Mud
“I’m Mud. I’m a self-defined Emotionalist. I explore themes of the self, mental health, and hope, filtered through the lens of lived experience.
Using mixed media, acrylics, cardboard, and everyday materials, I navigate the fragility and resilience of the human mind, transforming it into something visible, something tangible.
I create intuitively, working with whatever is to hand. My work often explores my lived experience with mental ill-health, and recently, the possibilities that arise from the shift in my thinking towards recovery.
Healing has taught me to slow down. I create from my truth, but it’s a gentler one. There’s more breath in my work now, more colour, more space. I use grounding exercises, reality-checking, and mindfulness to guide me. What used to be survival is becoming transformation.
This is my journey from pain to peace.”
